According to The Times, Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is to undergo contract talks, amid interest from Juventus. The 22-year-old has struggled to nail down a starting place this season and may want reassurances that he remains a first-team player before extending his stay at Old Trafford.
Martial joined United from AS Monaco in 2015 and has gone on to make more than 120 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils. He’s been in fine form this season too, scoring and creating 14 goals in 16 Premier League starts, but has also had to contend with his place in the side being up for grabs.
The French international has been either named on the bench or substituted when starting in 23 of his 26 league outings. With Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Alexis Sanchez for competition, manager Jose Mourinho has had to squad rotate to keep everyone happy.
Martial, however, has openly said this season that he doesn’t like missing so many games in a season, and he has an uncertain future with only 18 months being left on his contract. Juventus have been trying to capitalise on the situation, and the 22-year-old could well consider a move if game time continues to allude him in Manchester.
He won’t come cheap, however, as he’s valued at around £74m. But if clubs come calling, there’s no guarantee United will be able to hold on to him.
