According to the Mirror, Manchester United are interested in Leicester City defender Harry Maguire. The 25-year-old has impressed since his move to the Midlands outfit and could be signed as a replacement for Chris Smalling this summer.

Maguire joined Leicester from Hull City in July 2017 and has gone on to make 38 appearances in all competitions for the Foxes. His form in the Premier League has led to him being called up for the England national team by manager Gareth Southgate, making four caps, and United could make an approach as a result.

Smalling has been guilty of making costly errors at the back this season which could lead Jose Mourinho to find an upgrade in the transfer market. Maguire is valued at around £35m, although Leicester may put up some resistance as the centre-back still has four years left on his deal.

The Mirror say United have been scouting the Englishman for some time and are impressed with his performances over the course of the season. Maguire is expected to make the England squad for this summer’s 2018 World Cup in Russia, potentially in place of Smalling, which could make up Mourinho’s mind to lodge a bid for his signature.
