According to Express, Manchester United could reignite their interest in Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, as a makeshift replacement for Antonio Valencia.
The 29-year-old, who joined Inter from VFL Wolfsburg in 2015, has made over 100 appearances as a winger at the San Siro. Perisic has scored and created 45 goals in 93 Serie A games for the Nerazzurri, but long-term admirer Jose Mourinho feels his industrious qualities could make him a good wing-back.
Perisic has been linked with United for some time. He looked on his way to Old Trafford in July for a fee of around £45m, before the deal broke down. Mourinho has remained interested ever since, however, and could make another approach in the summer – although he’s worth around £53m now.
But with so much competition in attack – Jesse Lingard, Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial – Perisic would instead be competing with Antonio Valencia for a starting place. The 32-year-old wing-back, who joined United from Wigan Athletic in 2009, is contracted until 2019 but might be on his way out after that.
Perisic, who has played for FC Sochaux, KSV Roeselare, Borussia Dortmund, is no spring chicken himself, but he’s remained an energetic player who Mourinho has been desperate to bring to England, be that as a winger or wing-back.
Utter tosh.
Is a good player if he has agree to come to theatre of dream it will be a good signing.
