According to reports from the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United want to replace veteran Michael Carrick with either Roma star Radja Nainggolan or Atletico Madrid man Saul Niguez.

Michael Carrick has been a wonderful servant to Manchester United since his move to Old Trafford from Tottenham Hotspur back in the summer of 2006 and while the Red Devils offered the veteran a new contract at the end of the previous season, it does look like the current campaign will be the 36-year-old’s last in Manchester.

Replacing an influential player such as Carrick will surely prove to be a tough task for United but manager Jose Mourinho is already believed to have shortlisted a number of names as a potential replacement for the Englishman and according to reports from the Manchester Evening News, claims have been made that the Red Devils are currently weighing up moves for either Radja Nainggolan or Saul Niguez.

United have consistently been linked with both Nainggolan and Niguez over the past few transfer windows but with the Red Devils having bought Paul Pogba for big money, the interest seemed to have cooled recently.

With the Premier League giants having to look for Carrick’s successor, United are now said to have revived their interest in Nainggolan and Niguez, and it will be interesting to see if they land either of the two extremely talented midfielders.
