According to Fichajes, Manchester United are considering a bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves, with manager Jose Mourinho sounding out potential replacements for Ander Herrera.
The Spanish international has an uncertain future at Old Trafford, having lost his place in the starting lineup to Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay this season, and has been linked with a move to AC Milan.
His contract is up in 18 months and United haven’t come to an agreement over an extension. Herrera has made over 150 appearances in all competitions since his 2014-move from Athletic Bilbao, but he could be on his way out of the club.
As a result, Neves is being lined up. Fichajes state he was the youngest Portuguese player to make his FC Porto debut, beating the record held by Cristiano Ronaldo, and has a number of attributes attracting the interest of Mourinho.
The 20-year-old, who joined Wolves last summer, boasts tactical knowledge, is good on the ball and can sacrifice his game for the benefit of the team. El Gol Digital say United would have to pay in excess of £15m to land his signature in the summer, but they may have competition given his fine form this season – averaging a tackle or interception every 22 minutes.
