Manchester United in race to sign £25million replacement for Luke Shaw

According to The Sun, Manchester United are one of four clubs keen on Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand. Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Newcastle United are also keen on his signature.

The 28-year-old has made 29 Premier League appearances for the Saints this season but could be considering his future after being embroiled in a relegation battle. Bertrand is a target for Manchester United, with Luke Shaw potentially on his way out this summer over a lack of playing time.

Tottenham could hijack any deal, however, as they’re looking for a replacement for Danny Rose should the Englishman make the switch to United. Everton are linked as they need a replacement for Leighton Baines who will turn 34 in December.

Newcastle are in the market for the Southampton but may struggle to beat out three other Premier League clubs for his signature. Manchester United can easily pay his £25m asking price and could offer Bertrand first-team football at left-back next season given incumbent Ashley Young is 33 in July.

The former Chelsea fullback has plenty of options and could be the subject of a bidding war from the four clubs when the season comes to a close.
