According to France Football, Manchester United are in talks with Poland striker Robert Lewandowski. The 29-year-old recently ‘admitted he wants out of’ the Allianz Arena, say the Metro, but Real Madrid might have a better chance of signing Lewandowski than the Red Devils.
Despite having Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez as options in attack, manager Jose Mourinho appears to be in the market for another forward. Lukaku scored 16 league goals last season, but Lewandowski would be an upgrade – 29 goals in 30 Bundesliga appearances.
Convincing him to Old Trafford is another challenge, however, as the Polish international looks destined for Real Madrid if he does leave Bayern. Los Blancos are after a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema and have been linked with Lewandowski for some time.
Chelsea have joined United in the race for the 29-year-old, with the Londoners in need of a replacement for Alvaro Morata, but it’s hard to see then getting any deal over the line this summer as they’re yet to clarify which manager will be in charge next season.
United have been linked with Lewandowski for many years, but it’s hard to see them beating out the European champions to land his signature.
