Man United Missed Out on Signing 26-goal Attacker this Summer

According to ESPN journalist Mark Ogden, Manchester United were keen on acquiring the services of Andrea Belotti during the summer transfer window.

Manchester United most certainly enjoyed a very productive period in the summer transfer window by acquiring the services of quality players such as Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic, Victor Lindelof and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the quartet’s addition has turned the Red Devils into genuine contenders for the Premier League title this season.

Earlier on in the summer though, it was unclear as to whom United would be pursuing to improve their squad and the question as to which player would go on to replace the void left by Ibrahimovic had yet to be answered.

United eventually went on to acquire the services of Romelu Lukaku after failing to agree on a deal with Alvaro Morata and now ESPN journalist Mark Ogden has gone on to reveal that the Red Devils also had Italian international Andrea Belotti on their shortlist.

Belotti scored a stunning 26 goals in 35 appearances in Serie A last season and United boss Jose Mourinho was said to have been exploring the possibility of signing the 23-year-old before landing Lukaku.

Evidently, the move did not come into fruition but there is still a possibility that Belotti could end up in England as Chelsea are keen on signing the ex-Palermo man as a replacement for Diego Costa.
