Legendary Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has hailed ‘awkward’ Red Devils star Nemanja Matic.

Manchester United splashed a sizeable £40million to acquire the services of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea over the summer and the recruitment of the Serbian international has proven to be a masterstroke by manager Jose Mourinho.

Matic’s presence at the middle of the park has provided the Manchester United squad with some much needed balance and the 29-year-old has been crucial in helping the Red Devils enjoy a fantastic start to their campaign both in the Premier League as well as in the Champions League.

Legendary Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has been left very impressed with the impact Matic has managed to make at Old Trafford so far and he has now gone on to hail the ‘awkward’ Serb for making a huge difference for Mourinho this season.

Scholes told BT Sport, “He’s just one of them awkward players. Tall lad, long legs – he’s very difficult to get past. He’s had a great start at United. He’s been aggressive, he gets to the ball, he tackles. He’s done well so far.”

Scholes knows all about thriving in a Manchester United midfield and his praise for Matic certainly holds a lot of weight.
