Predicted Manchester United Lineup (4-2-3-1) vs Wigan: Shaw and Martial start

Jose Mourinho is set to make some key changes to the United starting line-up for the game against Wigan Athletic in the fourth round of the FA Cup.United have a run of four games in two weeks. The team is expected to line up in the familiar 4-2-3-1 formation.

Defence

Goalkeeper David de Gea has been rested and Sergio Romero will be brought in for only his sixth appearance of the season. While Timothy Fosu-Mensah is a possibility to start at right back, Antonio Valencia may continue in the position. Phil Jones is expected partner Daley Blind in the centre of the defence. Marcos Rojo returned to first team training only a few days ago and he may be benched for the clash. Luke Shaw may earn his first United appearance since November 30, as he is expected to feature ahead of Matteo Darmian, who may be rested.

Defensive Midfield

Mourinho is not expected to tinker in the midfield with Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini set to feature in a holding role. After being involved in five games this month, Paul Pogba may get a deserved rest in the midfield. The game also gives Michael Carrick some much-needed recuperation time ahead of the Premier League game with Hull City on Wednesday.

Attacking Midfield

Rooney only got a 11-minute runout against Hull City, but United’s all-time top goal scorer could feature from the start against Wigan. Juan Mata did not even get off the bench against Hull City, but he is likely to start the game. The big change comes in the left side of the supporting front three where Anthony Martial is confirmed to start. There is big pressure upon the Frenchman to deliver, as Jose Mourinho has issued an ultimatum to the striker, who has struggled for first-team opportunities this season.

Forward

Zlatan Ibrahimovic played the full 90 minutes against Hull City, and Jose Mourinho might want to rest the Swede for the forthcoming games. Marcus Rashford looks set to start the game in his preferred central position after being played out on the wide against Hull City.
