Manchester United are expecting a fresh bid from Real Madrid for their No. 1 goalkeeper David de Gea and the Spanish giants will need to fork out at least £50 million for him.
The Champions League winners are tracking De Gea for quite some time now, and the player almost joined the Galacticos in 2015, but the deal collapsed at the last minute. Now, the Red Devils are reluctant to sell, especially after Real blocked Alvaro Morata’s move to Old Trafford, but De Gea would like to play at Santiago Bernabeu at some point of his career.
However, David will not try to push the deal forward and will definitely not hand in a transfer request, and only the record-breaking bid could persuade United to sell this summer. In case Real get De Gea, Mourinho could opt to make Sergio Romero his new No. 1, but he also could consider in bringing a new goalkeeper. Jan Oblak, Kasper Schmeichel, Keylor Navas, and even Joe Hart can replace the Spanish international, while Romero proved that he is up for the job after impressive outings in the Europa League last year.
David de Gea has been at Old Trafford since 2011 and has 269 appearances in all competition, while he also recorded the most clean sheets in the Premier League in the previous four seasons. He began his career at Atletico Madrid in 2007 and represented Los Colchoneros on 84 occasions before joined United in 2011 for £22 million. David won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and Europa League with the Red Devils and also played in 21 matches for his country.
