Manchester United make Marouane Fellaini transfer decision: reports

Manchester United are prepared to stick with midfielder Marouane Fellaini for the remainder of the season, regardless of whether he signs a new contract or not, ESPN reports.

The Belgium international has less than eight months left on his present deal and talks over an extension have not progressed since September, where Fellaini is said to have snubbed a contract offer.

According to ESPN, United will resist the temptation of cashing in on Fellaini during the winter transfer window with Jose Mourinho treating the midfielder as a crucial first-team member.

The likes of Besiktas, Galatasaray and AC Milan are among the top clubs rumoured to be eyeing a pre-contract agreement for Fellaini, but United still remain hopeful that they can finalise a deal down the line.

Fellaini has transformed into a key performer during the ongoing campaign where he has contributed four goals in the space of just nine games. Nevertheless, the former Evertonian is considering a potential challenge elsewhere as he is not assured of a regular starting role when the team is up to full strength.

Mourinho generally opts for a two-man midfield, and this could see Marouane Fellaini benched in place of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba, who are the preferred candidates to feature in the centre of the park when fit.
