Manchester United make multiple offers for 30-year-old, Mourinho a big fan

According to Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws, Manchester United have made multiple offers for Marouane Fellaini to stay at Old Trafford, but the midfielder appears to depart when his contract expires at the end of the month, reports Sport Witness.

Manager Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the Belgian international but hasn’t been able to convince him to sign a new deal. Fellaini lost his place in the starting lineup last season and may feel he’ll be on the periphery in 2018/19 with so much competition for a starting place.

Fellaini joined United from Everton in 2013 and has gone on to make over 150 appearances in all competitions, winning the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup in his five years at Old Trafford. Mourinho has kept faith with the 30-year-old, but he used him sparingly in 2017/18, handing him just five Premier League starts.

With Fred being recently signed from Shakhtar Donetsk, Fellaini has a difficult task of getting a game ahead of the Brazilian international, Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba next season. Arsenal have tried to capitalise on the situation and could have some luck given Fellaini prefers to stay in England. Time will tell.
