According to reports from ESPN FC, Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson rejected a chance to join former European champions Ajax Amsterdam for Championship side Leeds United.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is certainly a very talented young player and Manchester United had sent him out on loan to join Wolverhampton Wanderers last season in order for him to develop further with the help of regular playing time on the pitch.
As it turned out though, the 20-year-old made only 6 appearances for Wolves and spent the second half of last season playing for the Manchester United-23 side.
Despite the struggles though, Borthwick-Jackson was a wanted commodity this summer and he eventually made a move to ambitious Championship outfit Leeds United recently, where he will look to enjoy a better campaign compared to last term.
Now in surprise revelations from ESPN FC though, it has been claimed that the full-back was also approached by Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam but evidently he snubbed the chance to join the former European champions.
Given Ajax’s prestige as well as history of developing young players, Borthwick-Jackson’s decision certainly is surprising but at the same time, Leeds do look like an ambitious side under Thomas Christiansen and he is likely to earn more first team football at Elland Road following the departure of Charlie Taylor over the summer.
