Manchester United miss out on the signing of 23-year-old Serie A attacker

According to reports carried out by Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Manchester United have missed out on the signing of Federico Bernardeschi despite a last ditch effort.

One of the main reasons why Manchester United struggled last season was their inability to find the back of the net on a consistent basis and in order to rectify the issue; manager Jose Mourinho has splashed a whopping £75million to acquire the services of Romelu Lukaku from Everton this summer.

In addition to Lukaku, Mourinho is looking to add a winger to his ranks as well and Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic is widely expected to be joining the Red Devils in the upcoming weeks.

Now in shock revelations, Calcio Mercato have revealed that United were keen on signing Italian international Federico Bernardeschi as well and had attempted to hijack Juventus’ move for the winger at the last minute.

Juventus did eventually manage to complete the signing of Bernardeschi despite the involvement of United and it is believed that the Red Devils did not influence the transfer as Juve chief Beppe Marotta had been negotiating with Fiorentina and the player’s agent for a while and the talks were too advanced for the Premier League side to interfere in.
