According to Napoli director Pierpaolo Marino, Manchester United are currently following attacker Dries Mertens.
Manchester United have enjoyed a stunning start to their Premier League campaign so far and many believe that the Red Devils will be strong challengers for the title this season.
While things are going well for United at the moment, they most certainly cannot afford to get complacent as the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea are also looking good and manager Jose Mourinho is believed to be open to strengthening his squad in January to boost the Red Devils’ chances of winning the title.
Signing attacking players will be high on the agenda for United and it has now been claimed that the Premier League giants are currently plotting a swoop to sign Napoli superstar Dries Mertens.
Such a revelation has been made by Napoli’s own director Pierpaolo Marino and he has revealed that the Belgian international is available for as little as £25million due to his release clause.
The Napoli director told Calcio Mercato, “The €28m clause is likely to be a low price even if he is 30. It turns out that United are following him very closely.”
While Mertens is not the youngest player anymore, he is certainly top quality and signing the attacker would surely be a great addition for the United squad.
