29-year-old Star Unhappy With Contract Offer — Player Wants a Long Term Contract

According to reports from the Daily Express, Manchester United’s new contract offer has been deemed as unacceptable by Marouane Fellaini.

There is no doubting the fact that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho rates Marouane Fellaini very highly and this can be testified by the fact that the Portuguese tactician blocked the midfielder’s prospective move to Galatasaray over the summer.

With Fellaini now having entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, United are now looking to extend the stay of the Belgian international and talks are believed to be going on regarding a new contract.

While Mourinho clearly wants to keep Fellaini and the midfielder also wants to stay put, the Daily Express have reported that the contract talks have not gone as smoothly as initially expected.

United are said to be reluctant to offer Fellaini a long-term deal as he will enter  his 30’s in November but the player’s representatives are said to be pushing for a longer extension, having deemed the club’s recent offer unacceptable.

It now remains to be seen how the contractual deadlock will be resolved but despite the hiccup, one can expect United to tie down the 29-year-old to a new deal in the upcoming weeks.
