Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Alexis Sanchez amid the uncertainty surrounding his future at Arsenal. The Chile international is desperate to leave the Gunners this summer as he looks to ply his trade in this season’s Champions League.
Cross-city rivals Manchester City have been deemed favourites to pursue the attacker in recent weeks, but according to The Independent, the forward’s intention to move has led to representatives making contact with United over a shock approach.
Despite this, Sanchez is said to prefer a reunion with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, who have already had a £50m rebuffed from the north London giants.
Manchester United have been in the hunt for a world-class winger over the course of the summer, and Sanchez would perfectly fit the bill due to his ability to play across the attack.
His valuation could still prove a stumbling block for United with the Gunners said to demand a fee in the region of £70m in order to part ways with their Chilean this month.
Sanchez, 28, has notched 72 goals in 144 outings for Arsenal since making his switch from Barcelona in the summer of 2014. He has won two FA Cup titles during this period.
