According to the Daily Star, Manchester United have competition from Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City for the signature of Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.
United manager Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he’s not planning to bolster the attack this summer, but the report states Bailey is a target nevertheless. The 20-year-old has been in fantastic form for Leverkusen since his 2017 move from Belgian outfit KRC Genk.
He’s scored and created 13 goals in 14 Bundesliga starts this season, and has a lot of clubs lining up for his signature as a result. Five of the top-six Premier League sides have been linked with the £100m-rated Jamaican international, who’s represented his country at u23 level so far.
Chelsea have a fervent need for Bailey, with goals drying up in recent weeks from Pedro, Alvaro Morata and Willian. Liverpool could need more cover should one of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah pick up injury. Arsenal, Manchester City and United, however, could avoid making an official approach.
Arsenal just added Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to their attack, United added Alexis Sanchez to a side boasting Anthony Martial, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata. City have Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Bernardo Silva, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus for attacking options.
