Premier League giants Manchester United have opened talks with Valencia over the £30million swoop of young midfielder Carlos Soler, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Manchester United showed their vulnerabilities during their 2-1 defeat against Premier League newboys Huddersfield Town at the John Smiths Stadium on Saturday and it is clear to see that the Red Devils need further strengthening of their squad to be able to challenge for top honours this season.
In addition to the poor performances against Huddersfield, United recent uninspired displays have partly been down to the absence of key midfielders Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini, and the Premier League giants certainly need to reinforce their options in the position to boost their title chances.
In order to do so, manager Jose Mourinho is already said to be scouring the transfer market for options and now according to reports from the Daily Mail, the Portuguese boss has set his sights on acquiring the services of Valencia youngster Carlos Soler.
Soler is one of the most promising talents to have emerged from Spain in recent times and United are now said to be hopeful of quickly landing the services of the 20-year-old as a potential long-term replacement for veteran Michael Carrick.
Soler has a £75million release clause on his contract at Valencia at the moment but with financial difficulties plaguing the La Liga side, United could land the Spanish Under-21 international for a decent fee of around £30million.
