Manchester United are reportedly prepared to open contract negotiations with Marcus Rashford with his existing deal scheduled to expire at the end of next season.
Rashford has pretty much been a regular for United since making his first-team debut under Louis van Gaal in 2016 and his progress is understood to have caught the eye of Real Madrid.
As such, the United hierarchy are keen to sway away any approach in the near future and The Star claims that they are prepared to double the forward’s £75,000-a-week wages to commit him for the long-term.
Aside from Rashford, United vice-executive chairman Ed Woodward is also understood to be keen on sorting out the future of Anthony Martial, though the Frenchman has yet to show any sign of extending his contract beyond June 2020.
Rashford has started five of his 10 Premier League matches this campaign and he has contributed two goals and one assist in the process. He has also excelled with the national team with three goals and an assist since the start of the season.
The forward was only a second half substitute during the recent goalless draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League but he managed to lead the line against Young Boys in the Champions League where United sealed their progress into the round of 16 with a 1-0 win.
