Man United plan to make £176million record signing for Michael Carrick replacement: report

Ramos and Isco

Manchester United are lining up a £176m bid and £338k-per-week contract to sign Real Madrid midfielder Isco, reports Don Balon. If he made the switch to Old Trafford from the Santiago Bernabeu, Isco would be the club’s record signing, beating Paul Pogba’s £89m move from Juventus in 2016.

With Michael Carrick retiring in the summer, Marouane Fellaini linked with a move to Besiktas and Ander Herrera being a target for the Serie A, United could be in need of a creative midfielder alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

Isco has been identified as the perfect option to take the club forward, although he won’t come cheap, nor are Real Madrid actively looking to sell him. The 25-year-old joined Real from Malaga in 2013 and has made over 220 appearances in all competitions since.

However, the Spanish international hasn’t featured heavily of late, starting just one of Real’s last seven La Liga outings, which hints that he’s not preferred by beleaguered head coach Zinedine Zidane.

Isco has nevertheless made 21 appearances in the league this season but has been left out for Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric on occasion. United are reportedly considering a £176m bid to get Real’s attention and could offer the midfielder a £338k-per-week contract to convince Isco to sign.
