According to reports from the Daily Mail, Manchester United are currently monitoring Brazilian youngster Arthur Melo.
Following their fine start to the season, Manchester United’s form has dipped over the last few matches and having dropped points against Liverpool, Huddersfield Town and Chelsea, the Red Devils already find themselves 8 points off the pace behind leaders Manchester City in the title race.
While there are a host of factors contributing to United’s recent slump, many have attributed their injury crisis in midfield due to issues with Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick as one of the main reasons for the Red Devils being unable to produce their early season form over the last few matches.
As a result, it is now believed that manager Jose Mourinho will be looking to address the problem position by signing a new midfielder during the upcoming January transfer window and according to reports from the Daily Mail, the Portuguese boss is currently plotting a move to sign Gremio youngster Arthur Melo.
Melo is a very talented young midfielder who earned a call-up to Brazil’s national squad for last month’s World Cup qualifiers and given the 21-year-old’s wonderful talent, he has widely been touted to make a move to Europe in the near future.
United are now said to be plotting a move to sign Melo this winter but they will have to fight off competition from the likes of Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in order to win the race to recruit the Brazilian sensation.
