Manchester United plot winter deal for highly-rated Portuguese attacker

Bruma to replace Depay?

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing a winter approach for Galatasaray starlet Bruma. The 22-year-old has impressed for the Istanbul-based side this season, netting four goals and three assists in just ten appearances.

The winger first caught the eye of Mourinho in July when he bagged an excellent goal in his side’s 5-2 defeat to Manchester United in a pre-season friendly. He had therein received praise in a private chat with the ‘Special One’, who promised to keep tabs on his progress through the campaign.

According to The Sun (Via O Jogo), the Red Devils are lining up a £8m offer for Bruma, who they see as a potential target to bolster their squad. Bruma is equally adept at playing on either wing and this combined with his lightning pace is something Mourinho would favour in his plodding attack.

The Portugal Under-21 international began his professional career at Sporting where he spent a solitary season before joining Galatasaray in the summer of 2014. He followed to amass 48 outings in his first two years at Istanbul before he was loaned out to Spanish side Real Sociedad last term.

Under the management of Jan Olde Riekerink, Bruma has found himself a place at the Turk Telekom Arena, but his future is once again uncertain amid the impending interest from Manchester United. Bruma is currently contracted to Galatasaray until the summer of 2018, but the prospect of negotiating a transfer sum in January could be a tempting option for the Turkish giants.

The arrival of an attacking recruit in the New Year is likely to coincide with Memphis Depay’s future at Old Trafford. The Netherlands international is deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester United, and he will be free to pursue a temporary deal away from the club.
