Manchester United are preparing a sensational bid to sign Tottenham forward Harry Kane, according to the Sun.
United have long been admirers of Kane, who has scored a stunning 84 Premier League goals in just 120 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur and the Red Devils are now reported to be looking to pull out all the stops to bring the England international to Old Trafford next summer – if reports from the Sun are to be believed.
Kane is still only 24 and is arguably one the best strikers in Europe at the moment, and the prospect of him partnering another ruthless finisher in Romelu Lukaku in the United attack is certainly mouthwatering.
However, this prospective transfer will not come cheap for the Red Devils as they will need to possibly break the Premier League transfer record to land last season’s Premier League top scorer.
A bid at around £170(€190) million is said to be required to tempt Spurs to sell Kane, which will comfortably be the biggest fee any team has paid for a single player in English football.
An Old Trafford source told the Sun regarding United’s pursuit of Kane, “The club had asked about Kane’s availability a few years back. They were told by Spurs there was no chance. Jose is a big fan and is very interested.
“Zlatan Ibrahimovic will move on next summer, more than likely, freeing up a load of cash they plan to use. The problem for United is the money could get to a ridiculous level. It’s going to be more than Kylian Mbappe.
“It’s money they can lay their hands on but it will be interesting to see what Levy’s stance on the whole thing will be.”
Real Madrid are also said to be looking to sign Spurs’ superstar and it will be interesting to see where Kane will end up should he decide to leave London next summer.
