According to the Mirror, Manchester United are keen on OGC Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri. The Ivorian international looked set to join Barcelona in the summer, but the deal fell through. Paris Saint-Germain were also linked with Seri, before Financial Fair Play restrictions led to them pulling out of a deal.
The 26-year-old has a €40m release clause and 18 months left on his contract. He’s been a regular in Ligue 1 this season, making 15 appearances, scoring and creating four goals. Seri has made 36 chances and 22 successful dribbles, and would be a useful attack-minded player to bring creativity to United.
Jose Mourinho has competition, however, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City reportedly monitoring his progress. The Red Devils have a need to bolster their midfield, with Ander Herrera having been short of form and playing time and Michael Carrick expected to leave the club in the summer.
Chelsea are in the race as they’re considering replacing Tiemoue Bakayoko. Manchester City are keen as they will be losing Yaya Toure, as well as wanting a long-term replacement for Fernandinho. Liverpool could lose Emre Can to Juventus this month or in the summer, so all four sides have a need for Seri.
And with his release clause being a more-than-affordable €40m, bids could be lodged in the coming days.
