Manchester United are reportedly deemed as the front-runners to prise Mexican winger Hirving Lozano from PSV Eindhoven during the ongoing transfer window. The 22-year-old was the standout performer for Mexico during their recent run to the round of 16 of the World Cup and this has attracted widespread interest from the likes of Barcelona and Arsenal.
However, according to Tuttomercatoweb, United are understood to have jumped ahead of the queue for the talented winger and talks are scheduled next week regarding a potential transfer which could cost around £35m.
Lozano only joined PSV from Pachuca last summer but he has already made his mark with 17 goals and eight assists which helped the Dutch outfit to reclaim the league title. He presently five more years left on his existing contract but PSV appear open to a summer sale, provided their valuation is matched.
United boss Jose Mourinho has generally gone with experience when it comes to forming his first XI but a player of Lozano’s calibre is surely an attractive option, given his age and versatility to play anywhere across the attack.
Nevertheless, a potential deal could have some implications at Old Trafford with Anthony Martial seemingly keen on a summer exit. The Frenchman’s representative has already confirmed his client’s desire to part ways with United but so far, the club’s hierarchy have not bowed to any enquiries regarding the 22-year-old.
