Manchester are reportedly prepared to reward manager Jose Mourinho with a fresh five-year deal despite claiming that he would not end his career at Old Trafford. The 54-year-old guided United to EFL Cup and Europa League success during his first season in charge.
According to Goal.com, United are keen to commit Mourinho to a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain considering a future approach for his signature. In a recent interview with TFI’s Telefoot programme, Mourinho admitted that Paris Saint-Germain are ‘doing something special’, and this has apparently caught the attention of Les Parisiens’ hierarchy, who are on the search for a world-class manager.
Mourinho has not managed a particular club for four full seasons, but United are eager to end this streak by offering the Portuguese with a new bumper contract. As per Goal, Mourinho will be presented with a fresh £250,000-a-week contract in the next few weeks with the club wanting to extend his stay beyond the summer of 2019.
The former Chelsea boss recently brushed aside speculation linking him with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, and the fans don’t have much to worry about so long as United continue their strong start to the campaign.
Manchester United were unbeaten across all competitions until they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town on Saturday. Mourinho’s men will seek to get back to winning ways when they take on Swansea in the fourth round of the League Cup on Tuesday night.
