Manchester United ready to pay the required £36million to sign 25-year-old midfielder

According to reports from Spanish outlet Diario Gol, Manchester United are ready to splash as much as £36million to acquire the services of Sergi Roberto from Barcelona.

Manchester United have strengthened their attack, midfield as well as central defence with the signings of Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof so far this summer but nonetheless, there are other areas of his squad where manager Jose Mourinho is looking to further improve upon.

Signing another midfielder could be one of the priorities for United, especially with Michael Carrick reaching the twilight of his career and recent reports had claimed that the Red Devils were keen on bringing in Sergi Roberto.

Roberto impressed while playing as a right-back for Barcelona last season but his natural position is at the middle of the park and there have been speculation that the 25-year-old could be available for a transfer this summer as the Catalans have already signed Nelson Semedo.

United have been named as one of the clubs interested in acquiring Roberto and in an update provided by Diario Gol, claims are being made that the Red Devils are ready to activate the Spanish international’s release clause which is believed to be around £36million.
