According to reports from the Metro, Manchester United are ready to sanction the sale of midfielder Marouane Fellaini during the upcoming January transfer window.
Despite not entirely impressing everyone, Marouane Fellaini has nonetheless managed to establish himself as a key figure in the Manchester United lineup under Jose Mourinho and it is clear to see that the Belgian is rated very highly by his manager.
As a result, Fellaini being handed a new deal by United was seen as a mere formality and it seemed like the 29-year-old would remain a crucial component in Mourinho’s side for years to come.
However in shock developments reported by the Metro, claims are being made that United are now open to selling Fellaini during the January transfer window and they are looking to do so in order to raise funds.
Mourinho has spent around £290million over the last few summers and the report states that the Portuguese manager now needs to balance the books before pursuing his suggested main target Mesut Ozil from Arsenal.
Fellaini’s contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the current campaign and United will need to sell the midfielder during the upcoming January transfer window in order to avoid losing him for free at the end of the season.
