Manchester United star Jesse Lingard was brilliant on loan for West Ham United in the second half of the last campaign.
The Hammers wanted to hire his services in the summer transfer window but the Red Devils demanded a fee of £25million. The London side were only prepared to pay £18million and the player ended up staying at Old Trafford (The Sun).
Transfer: Man United lead to agree signing of £60million playmaker – Report
The British source have now claimed that Man Utd are ready to secure the exit of the playmaker for a fee of just £10million. His current contract with the club will expire in June 2022.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder, who earns £100,000 a week (The Athletic), has only started one game in the current campaign and made seven other appearances from the bench (2 goals and 1 assist).
Lingard needs to play regular first-team football if he wants to earn a place in the England national squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. For that, he should leave the 20-time English champions.
West Ham have been flying high this season and are already 6 points ahead of Manchester United. Last term, the 32-capped international scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists in 16 appearances under the management of David Moyes.
We shall see if Moyes will move in to bring Lingard back to the Hammers. The Sun claim Man Utd are hoping that the Magpies will show interest in signing the Three Lions star so that they can raise the asking price.
