Manchester United receive massive boost ahead of Liverpool clash

Manchester United have been handed a huge boost ahead of this weekend’s Premier League trip to Anfield after Sadio Mane sustained a hamstring injury on international duty.

The Senegal international has been undoubtedly the standout performer for Liverpool after Philippe Coutinho, but he is expected to play no part in Saturday’s early kickoff.

As per Liverpool’s official website, the attacker will be sidelined for the best part of six weeks, and this would undoubtedly provide a lift for United, who are without Marouane Fellaini with a knee ligament sprain.

Mane has the potential to tear any backline into shreds on his day, and Liverpool’s hopes on Saturday would have hinged on the partnership of Coutinho and Mane.

Nevertheless, Jose Mourinho will prepare his team for a tough outing at Merseyside with Mohamed Salah also capable of creating chances from the right side of the attack.

Coutinho has played in a deeper attacking role this term, but he could be pushed forward to the left-wing where he has proved more effective over the past year.

Manchester United are unbeaten in their previous three league meetings with Liverpool at Anfield, and there is every chance of extending this record, provided the Reds’ attack is contained in the early exchanges.
