Manchester United target Alex Sandro has made his intention clear to remain at Juventus despite the ongoing speculation linking of him pursuing a fresh challenge. United boss Jose Mourinho had been keen on recruiting a new left-back during the previous summer transfer window, but ultimately the club’s search came to no avail.
Since then, the likes of Ashley Young and Luke Shaw have stepped up with strong performances on the left side of the backline, and this shelved the manager’s plans to reinforce the position last month with the sole signing being Alexis Sanchez, who joined in a straight-swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Despite this, Sandro has been underlined as the primary target to bolster the left-back position, but it appears that he has no plans of parting ways with the Bianconeri in the near future, he said: “I have always remained focused on my work and my only thought has always been Juventus, with whom I still have two years of contract. I feel really good and I am satisfied with my condition today.”
Regardless of Sandro’s comments, Mourinho is likely to make it a necessity to bolster the backline during the summer with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling putting in mixed performances in central defence. Likewise, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia are approaching the twilight stage of their respective careers, and it is essential to having long-term replacements before hand.
