Manchester United reignite interest in £35m-rated midfielder

Manchester United are reported to have made a fresh approach for Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri amid the uncertainty surrounding the future of Paul Pogba at Old Trafford. The Ivory international was closely watched by United scouts in the Europa League earlier in the month.

According to The Mirror, the Red Devils are said to have revived their interest in the 26-year-old with Pogba having found himself out of favour under Jose Mourinho of late. Seri still has a £35m release clause on his existing contract, and he is being seen as a potential option to fulfil the box-to-box midfield role, in which Pogba has struggled to impress in recent weeks.

With the departures of both Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini in the summer, United are in desperate need of strengthening at the heart of the midfield, and the move for Seri should be related to the outgoing duo rather than Pogba.

Pogba has lacked the intensity on the playing field with his limited opportunities this month, but it is highly unlikely that the manager would mull over his sale, as the Frenchman is capable of lifting his game with a moment of brilliance on the field.
