Manchester United had Reportedly Agreed to Sign Superstar in £170M Deal Last Summer

According to French publication L’Equipe (via the Daily Express), Manchester United had agreed personal terms over the signing of Brazilian superstar Neymar last summer.

The entire footballing world has been shocked after it was revealed that Neymar has decided to leave Barcelona and the 25-year-old is now on the verge of joining French giants Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth a mind boggling £198million.

Neymar’s impending move to PSG is arguably the biggest and one of the most shocking ever in the history of football and it will certainly be very interesting to see how the Brazilian attacker will be able to perform in Paris.

However, things could have been very different for Neymar – if reports from L’Equipe are to be believed.

According to the French publication, Neymar had actually agreed personal terms with Manchester United last summer and the Premier League giants were said to be ready to pay as much as £170million to secure his services.

However, the potential deal broke down due to some unknown reason and United instead went on to sign the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and Paul Pogba for a world record £89million – which is set to be smashed by Neymar’s move to PSG.
