According to reports from Tuttomercato, Manchester United have joined the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.
Marco Verratti has established himself as arguably one of the best midfielders in the world since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Pescara back in 2012 and the Italian international has been crucial in establishing the French giants as a European power over the years.
As a result, it has been no surprise to see a host of clubs expressing their interest in signing Verratti this summer and Barcelana were believed to be pulling out all the stops in order to acquire the talented midfielder.
However, the proposed move seems to have cooled as PSG are not willing to sell Verratti and Barcelona are currently said to have focused their attentions to targets elsewhere.
Despite PSG’s stance on Verratti though, reports from Tuttomercato have claimed that Premier League giants Manchester United have now registered their interest in signing the 24-year-old.
It has been claimed that Jose Mayorga – one of United’s top scouts – has held talks with Verratti’s camp and that the Italian star is a ‘dream’ signing of Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho.
