According to reports from the Gianluca di Marzio, Manchester United have been placed as favourites to secure the services of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has made two major signings so far by acquiring the services of Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku for big money and the Portuguese tactician is now looking to add a new midfielder in order to make his side capable of challenging for the Premier League title during the upcoming campaign.
As a result, a host of names such as Marco Verratti, Renato Sanches, Toni Kroos and Eric Dier have naturally been linked with a move to United over the past few weeks but one speculation which seems to carry some weight behind it is the Red Devils’ interest in Chelsea star Nemanja Matic.
It is believed that United have already held talks with Chelsea over the potential signing of Matic this summer but having failed to come to an agreement on a price, it seemed like the Serbian international would be move to Juventus instead as the Italian side are said to have shown a ‘more genuine’ interest.
In a recent development from Gianluca di Marzio though, it can now be revealed that Juventus have cooled their interest in Matic by targeting a move for PSG’s Blaise Matuidi instead and this has allegedly allowed United to become favourites to sign Matic as they look to restart negotiations with Chelsea.
