Manchester United reportedly placed as shock favourites to sign 30-year-old midfielder

As reported by the Daily Express, Manchester United are the favourites to make a surprise swoop for Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal this summer.

Manchester United have been in the market to sign a new central midfielder for quite a while now and the likes of Eric Dier, Radja Nainggolan, Nemanja Matic, Toni Kroos, Renato Sanches and Marco Verratti have all strongly been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past few weeks.

Now in a fresh development, revelations can be made that United are currently plotting a swoop for Bayern Munich star Arturo Vidal.

Vidal has been one of the best midfielders in Europe over the past few years and United boss Jose Mourinho is believed to be keen on acquiring the services of the Chilean international to beef up his options at the middle of the park.

Speaking about the rumors, Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti however went on to state that there is ‘no way’ the 30-year-old would be leaving the Allianz Arena this summer.

Ancelotti had said about Vidal’s future in a press conference, “For Vidal, there is no way. He’s our player and I have a lot of confidence in him. I know there are rumours and we’re used to rumours. He’ll stay with us 100 per cent – I’m confident about that.”

Despite Ancelotti’s hands-off warning though, the Daily Express have carried out a report claiming that United are favourites to acquire the services of the midfielder.

The Red Devils have been linked with Vidal since his Bayer Leverkusen days and it will be interesting to see if the Premier League side finally manage to land their long-term target.
