Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho could be willing to part ways with David de Gea in the summer, should Real Madrid offer Gareth Bale as part of an agreement, Diario Gol reports.
The Spain international has been regularly associated with a move to the European champions ever since his failed transfer in the summer of 2015, owing to faulty fax machine.
De Gea’s current deal at Old Trafford is due to expire at the end of next season, and according to Diario Gol, Los Blancos are fancying their chances of luring him to the Bernabeu, provided Bale moves the other way.
Mourinho pursued the services of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal to reinforce the attack last month, but Bale is still said to be on club’s radar with the manager viewing him as the final piece of his attacking jigsaw.
De Gea has remained tight-lipped about extending his contract beyond the summer of 2019, though he has recently termed the club as ‘very special’ during a recent interview with Sky Sports News.
United currently have the option of extending the Spaniard’s stay by triggering a 12-month extension clause on his contract, and this would put them in a decent position to reject Los Blancos’ advances, unless De Gea pushes through a summer exit.
