Malmo wonderkid Lucas Gomes is on the verge of signing for Manchester United, according to the Swedish club’s sporting director Mikael Brandrup.

Despite spending huge amounts in the transfer market to sign established names over the past few years, Manchester United have not abandoned their philosophy of discovering young talent from around the world and the latest promising youngster the Red Devils are set to acquire is Lucas Gomes.

Gomes is a 14-year-old forward who earned an invitation from Manchester United last season in October after managing to impress for the Malmo academy and it is believed that the youngster made a positive mark on the Red Devils’ coaching staff during his time with the club.

Now Malmo sporting director Mikael Brandrup has gone on to speak regarding the future of Gomes and dropped a huge hint that the attacker will be joining Manchester United by admitting that his side will not be able to keep hold of the teenager in the foreseeable future.

“Lucas was in Manchester for week 44 and unfortunately I do not think we’ll keep him, Brandrup told Skanesport, as relayed by Goal.com.

“He moved here from Karlskrona in the autumn of 2016 to go to our sports school and, of course, he might have to wait until he left the school before moving back. But I understand he’s impressed with United.”
