Man Utd £154,000-a-week target is ready to talk terms with Barcelona — Reports

Manchester United are set to face disappointment in their pursuit of Mesut Ozil as Spanish giants Barcelona are prepared to offer the Arsenal playmaker a massive pre-contract deal in January, according to the Daily Mirror.

Mesut Ozil is into the final year of his contract with Arsenal and it looks like the German international will be leaving the Emirates Stadium soon after failing to agree on a new deal with the North London side and is ready to talk terms with Barcelona — according to The Sun.

It has been reported that the main reason for Ozil’s rejection of the new deal from Arsenal is due to the Gunners’ unwillingness to agree to the German’s wage demand of in excess of £300,000-a-week.

This has led some top clubs across Europe to trail the talented playmaker and the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona are both reportedly willing to splash the cash in order to acquire the services of the ex-Schalke man.

However, the transfer chase for £154,000-a-week already seems to be set for conclusion before it has been started as it has been claimed by the Daily Mirror that Barcelona are prepared to offer a huge pre-contract deal of around £350,000-a-week to Ozil in January, which will effectively put United out of the race for the 29-year-old.

This development will come as a massive blow for Manchester United as many associated with the club were looking forward to a potential reunion between Jose Mourinho and Ozil, and now the Red Devils will have to look for targets elsewhere.
