According to Daily Mail, Manchester United are close to signing Tottenham Hotspur’s ‘promising’ midfielder Nonso Madueke, after the youngster turned down a new deal with the Lilywhites.
The 16-year-old looks set to leave Spurs after rejecting terms of a professional contract and has been invited to join United’s u16 squad to take part in the MIC Tournament in Spain.
He’s registered to play in the UEFA Youth League, but his future looks to be in Manchester.
The London outfit will be due compensation for Madueke when he agrees terms with another club.
Chelsea are also reportedly keen on the highly-rated midfielder, but the teenager has been a target for the Red Devils for 18 months, impressing scouts enough for them to make an approach.
Madueke made a name for himself in the 2017 Sonneland Cup after being named Player of the Tournament and has made the matchday squad on one occasion for Spurs’ in the u18 Premier League.
If he signs for United, he’ll join former midfielder Nicky Butt who is the Head of Academy.
The 43-year-old, who won six Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the Champions League, could be the perfect mentor for Madueke to develop.
