News: Manchester United star pays fine to avoid six month jail sentence

Romelu Lukaku

According to reports from Vanguard, Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has avoided jail time after agreeing to pay compensation to the Beverly Hills police.

Lukaku was arrested in the United States earlier this summer during Manchester United’s pre-season tour after the police authorities responded to five noise complaints made by the neighbours at the house he was renting.

It is believed that Lukaku had angered the surrounding housing tenants due to constant partying and as a result, the police had to be called upon in order to maintain the peace in the area.

Lukaku could have been charged with misdemeanor, which carries a sentence of six months in jail, due to the offence but the charges have now been reduced as the Belgian international has agreed to pay a fine of around $450 in order to reimburse the police.

The Manchester United star will now instead be charged with a disturbance of peace infraction and he will not be facing any jail sentence as a result, which will surely come as a huge source of relief for the Red Devils’ faithful.
