Manchester United Are Still Finding Their Way

Although United have continued to go win-less so far this season, in the last couple of weeks the club has acquired the services of talents Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao, and Daley Blind. When adding these names into the mix, you can’t help but think that now is the time to turn things around.

Many questions were asked of United after last season and the inevitable rebuilding of the squad. Many fans believed that the appointment of Louis van Gaal would be the key to United moving forward to once again reach the level of success that fans have come to expect from their club. As we have seen throughout the premier league season season thus far, the players that LVG had at his disposal simply weren’t enough. After a small purge of United’s previous squad, six new men ended up joining the club by the end of the transfer window, and they all are talented players who bring more quality into the squad. United may not have a lot of players, but we are only playing a maximum of 45 games, so that shouldn’t pose to much of a problem for LVG or the needs of the players themselves.

Di Maria provided 1 goal and 3 assists in Argentina’s recent 4-2 win over World Champions Germany, and is clearly one of the top 5 or 6 best players in the world at the moment. His sheer ability alone could be exactly what United need in order to propel them to the level that other top premiership clubs are on at the moment, and where United need belong. That isn’t even including the shock transfer deadline day acquisition, Radamel Falcao. El Tigre joined United on a £6 million season-long loan move with an option to buy at £44 million. Although United may not have exactly needed a striker, when a goalscorer as prolific as Falcao is on the market, you have to give them a go. The Columbian forward has said that his agent had been in talks with Manchester United for a while, and he was glad to see the deal go through. Falcao will be competing for time with the likes of Rooney, RVP, and youngster James Wilson.

Daley Blind is also an incredibly positive addition to the side. The 24-year-old Dutchmen was obtained by United for £14 million, a bargain for the Eredivise player of the year last season. The Dutch utility player will probably be used as a defensive midfielder for Manchester United, while he can also play at the left-back spot. Although his versatility makes him even more of a threat, expect to see Blind in the midfield during most of his time at United.

Even though we couldn’t get the one more central-midfielder or another center back, I would say that this summer transfer window has been a success. Rumor has it a deal is already in the making for the Dutch AS Roma central-midifielder, Kevin Strootman. Now that more pieces have been added to the puzzle, LVG has more to work with. It is time for the new-look United to find their way and deliver the captivating performances that we know they are all capable of.
