27-year-old Defender Could Join Leicester City — Before Thursday’s 11pm deadline

According to reports from the Daily Mirror, Leicester City have expressed an interest in acquiring the services of Chris Smalling.

Chris Smalling has been a decent signing for Manchester United following his arrival to Old Trafford from Fulham back in 2010 and the defender has helped the Red Devils claim two Premier League titles during his time with the club.

However, Smalling did not feature regularly for United last season and the 27-year-old has not made a single appearance for the Red Devils in the Premier League so far during the current campaign.

With the likes of Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof and Marcos Rojo all seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order at the club, Smalling’s long term future with Manchester United has been cause for much speculation and there is still a strong possibility that the England international will leave Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window this week.

As reported by the Daily Mirror, Leicester City have expressed an interest in signing Smalling and the ex-Maidstone United man is said to be viewed as the long-term replacement for Wes Morgan by manager Craig Shakespeare.
