According to reports carried out by the Daily Record, Manchester United are willing to offload Luke Shaw in order to fund their other transfer targets.

There was a lot of hype surrounding Luke Shaw’s arrival to Manchester United from Southampton back in the summer of 2014 and understandably so.

United had paid Southampton a whopping £30million to sign the then teenager and the left-back had already proven himself as a stunning talent during his time with the Saints prior to arriving at Old Trafford.

However, Shaw has unfortunately failed to live up to the expectations due to various issues relating to form as well as fitness and the 22-year-old currently finds himself at the crossroads of his career at United after having failed to impress manager Jose Mourinho last season.

Now in reports carried out by the Daily Record, claims have been made that United are actively looking to get rid of Shaw in order to fund purchase of new players as the likes of Ivan Perisic, Thomas Lemar and Danny Rose get linked to the Premier League giants.

United have spent a lot of money on new players this summer and are said to be looking to balance the books with the sale of Shaw.

While Shaw has not been a success at United, he is still very young and if given a good run in the first team, there is a possibility that the ex-Southampton prodigy will be able to flourish in the future. Whether it will be at Old Trafford or somewhere else, remains to be seen.
