Manchester United have decided to delay talks with Jose Mourinho over a possible new deal, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho’s current deal at Manchester United runs till 2019 and United will soon need to renew the contract of the Portuguese manager if they want to retain his services.

However, Mourinho’s record of not staying with one club for long and the fact that United still look short of quality to win silverware, has left the Old Trafford hierarchy to reconsider the Portuguese’s long-term position – if reports are to be believed. Recently, doubts have been raised whether he can take Manchester United back to the top of English football.

There has also been regular complains among the club fans over the defensive style of football United have played this season under Mourinho and this has been among the deterrents in the Red Devils’ potential move to extend the current deal of the 54-year-old.

Although there are still questions regarding Mourinho’s future, fans will be hopeful that the Portuguese will sign a new deal with United as he has certainly improved the Red Devils following their struggles under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.
