According to the Daily Star, Manchester United are considering a move for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey. The 27-year-old is out of contract in less than 18 months and has yet to agree terms on a new deal.
Ramsey has been a key player for the Gunners this season, scoring and creating 12 goals in 19 Premier League appearances. He picked up a hamstring injury in December which saw him out of action for a month, but the Welsh international has yet to fully recover from it – missing four of Arsenal’s last seven league outings.
There has been no progress made on contract talks either, with the ex-Cardiff City man admitting Arsenal had bigger things on their priority list than tying him down to a new deal. It opens the door to a potential move, as Arsenal will want to cash in on Ramsey now rather than risk losing him for free a year later.
Manchester United are believed to be interested in his signature as Jose Mourinho could be losing a host of midfielders this summer – Michael Carrick retiring, Marouane Fellaini out of contract, Ander Herrera linked with AC Milan and Paul Pogba unhappy and linked with Real Madrid.
Ramsey is a box-to-box midfielder who can score and create goals, in addition to harrying the opposition around the pitch. He is highly industrious and a cultured player at times too. Arsenal would prefer to keep him, but they may cash in for the right price if he won’t sign a new deal at the club.
