According to El Mercurio, Fernando Felicevich, agent of Bayern midfielder Arturo Vidal, has flown to Munich to discuss a move to one of Inter Milan or Manchester United. The Sun say Vidal was left out of Bayern’s pre-season tour squad, potentially hinting that he’s surplus to requirements this summer and United are trying to capitalise on the situation.
Vidal joined Bayern from Juventus in 2015 and has gone on to make 124 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating 40 goals. The Chilean international has won three Bundesliga titles and one DFB-Pokal during his time at the Allianz Arena, but his stint in Germany could be coming to an end.
With Bayern signing Leon Goretzka from Schalke and giving Renato Sanches a chance to prove his worth, there may not be room for Vidal. The central midfielder won’t be short on offers, however, as United and Inter can more than afford his alleged £26m asking price.
The Red Devils signed Fred from Shakhtar to bolster the engine room, in addition to tying Marouane Fellaini down to a new deal, but manager Jose Mourinho is clearly looking for more quality in the middle of the park. Vidal is combative, industrious and has an eye for goal. He’s 31 now, but could still be useful in the Premier League.
