According to Calciomercato, Paris Saint-Germain have slapped a £36m price tag on right-back Thomas Meunier, who has been linked to Manchester United as a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia.
The 26-year-old, who joined PSG from Club Brugge in 2016, has struggled for first-team football this season. Meunier, who is contracted until 2020, has made 14 Ligue 1 appearances, just 10 of them starts, and has been an unused substitute nine times.
Manchester United have been linked with the Belgium international as they search for a replacement for Ecuadorian international Antonio Valencia. The 32-year-old is nearing the end of his career at Old Trafford, and Meunier is one of many players reportedly on the shortlist.
They have stiff competition for his signature, however, with Juventus also keen to sign the defender. Meunier could be on the move as Dani Alves is commanding a starting place at the Parc des Princes. His £36m asking price wouldn’t break the bank either.
But with Alves turning 35 in May, PSG might be keen to keep Meunier as the Brazilian is approaching the end of his playing career. That might be a blow for Manchester United and Juventus, but time will tell if PSG have another player lined up to replace Alves, or if they will keep Meunier.
